A Romantic Garden Wedding
Athens is a city that holds special memories for so many couples I've come to know while living in Georgia. For McKenzie and Alex, the Founders Garden at the University of Georgia held special significance since it was the backdrop of one of their first dates while they were in college. Fast forward to their wedding day and the beautiful garden was transformed into the perfect backdrop for their intimate garden ceremony.
After the ceremony, they took the party to 1051 Baxter down the street and celebrated in the best way - by dancing, laughing, and handing out espresso martini shots.
This day was captured using a mix of digital photography and 35mm film.
Getting Ready
McKenzie and Alex spent the morning of their wedding surrounded by their wedding party and families. These photos were captured in a documentary style as I floated between the two getting ready suites and grabbed detail photos along the way. In typical groomsmen fashion, the guys played cards, had a couple of football games on, and cheered Alex on as he put his suit on. When it was time to get dressed, McKenzie's mom and sister helped her into her dress before she stepped out for her first look with her bridesmaids. We felt nothing but love and excitement on this wedding day morning!
First Look
For their first look, McKenzie and Alex met in the Founders Garden at the same spot where they took their first photo together as formal dates back in college. After their first look, they read their vows to each other in private and shared a quiet moment together.
Ceremony
Guests began arriving for the ceremony just as the sun began to flood the garden with golden light. After walking down the aisle, McKenzie and Alex were married in the presence of their closest friends and families and sealed it with a kiss!

Potraits
These wedding day portraits had everything! We wanted to mix in some editorial portraits while still capturing those classic, romantic bride and groom portraits too. I gasped when the sun hit McKenzie's veil for jaw-dropping glow.
Decor
Each piece of decor was placed with intention and purpose. The elegant color palette and accents paired so well with the garden and reception venues for a cohesive and timeless day.
The Reception
When I tell you McKenzie and Alex's guests came to DANCE. I have never been on SUCH a packed dance floor at a wedding. At the end of the night, the newlyweds were sent off with streamers, cheers, and a whole lot of hugs and kisses.
